Know ye first these Principles of Science Keep ye them in mind and upon them meditate And by the excellent zeal upon it thy heart set By thy hand do thou build wondrous appliance

View, observe, discover, watch thou Nature’s field Let thy mind behold it firmly with integrity Then stir thou the portions and behold the activity Stir thou the others still and thus compose the yield

Incite the elements to thy will and examine their play Then from thy records do thou prognosticate Imagine the pattern and law, to thy friend deliberate Reason will guide thee and will have the final say
